What is the difference between e-cigarettes and vaporizers? It can be confusing for newcomers to vaping since the two are often used interchangeably. However, vaporizers and e-cigs do have a few fundamental differences. Choosing between the two can affect the experience you have, so it’s important to know which option is best for you.
In this article, we will help set the record straight. What is an e-cigarette? What is a vaporizer? Which one is best for you?
Electronic Cigarettes: What Are They?
Electronic cigarettes are very different than tobacco, yet they provide a similar sensation. They allow users to enjoy the experience of smoking, either with or without nicotine, minus facing many of negatives associated with smoking. E-cigs produce a vapor which feels and looks like smoke without the stench attributed to tobacco smoke. This is achieved by a heating liquid made of vegetable glycerin or polyethylene glycol to the point that it produces this vapor. This process is triggered every time an e-cig user inhales through the device. The liquid (known as e-liquid) can be produced in many different flavors, in a nicotine free form, or containing various concentrations of nicotine.
An e-cig has three parts to it:
1. The pre-filled cartridge containing the e-liquid. (where the user inhales).
2. A heating chamber to help produce enough heat.
3. A lithium-ion battery, which powers the device.
An e-cigarette is usually made to resemble a cigarette either in color or shape, sometimes both. E-cigs are more familiar in that sense, being less of a jump away from cigarettes in terms of form. Critically, many e-cigs involve having to either replace the entire device after a certain number of puffs, or replace the pre-filled cartridge itself, which makes them more disposable.
What is a Vaporizer?
A vaporizer works in a similar way to an e-cig, with some major differences that should be noted. These include:
Control: A good vaporizer doesn’t use disposable cartridges filled with e-liquid. Users can add the e-liquid themselves to the device without any difficulty. This gives users more control over what e-liquid flavors and nicotine concentrations they can use with their vaporizer.
Size: Vaporizers are usually larger than e-cigs.
Appearance: While e-cigs are usually designed to be the size and shape as a cigarette, a vaporizer looks like it’s own thing – a cool piece of tech. Some newer models are smaller, resembling a fountain pen.
Deeper Hit: The “throat hit” and “chest hit” which some smokers enjoy is often better on a vaporizer. This is because the design of a vaporizer allows for better heating and airflow during inhalations.
Technology: Some vaporizers come with impressive tech, such as digital displays telling you how many more puffs are left and how long the battery will last.
Which Should You Choose?
And finally, which one is better? To be fair, it truly boils down to personal preference. What’s certain is that both e-cigarettes and vaporizers do not contain the same carcinogens which cigarettes do, and both are a viable, alternative to smoking.
The Bottom Line:
E-cigarettes are great for those wanting the look and feel of a cigarette. Well-made e-cigs can provide great enjoyment and are handy for being on the go, with no need to carry e-liquid with you.
Quality vaporizers are more sophisticated vaping devices and provide more options in terms of the flavors , nicotine strengths, as well as a stronger throat and chest hit. Both are fantastic options, especially if you are a smoker looking to loose the gross associated with tobacco and still enjoy the experience of nicotine.
